Mobile OS Wars - Which one is the best?

There is a plethora of mobile Operating Systems out there. They make continuous improvements and as consumers we rely on the specs they give us. We are also continuously bombarded by advertisements about why a particular OS is superior to others. Add to this the FanBoys and FanGirls who constantly tout why their favorite platform.

Our team has analyzed the right one for you by comparing iOS (Apple), Android (Google), BlackBerry (RIM) and Windows Phone 7 (Microsoft):

  • If you are looking for the most beautiful interface and phone, buy a Windows Phone 7. It is sleek and has an interface that is quite a departure from the other 3 platforms. Plus, you will certainly stand out from most others!
  • If you are looking to browse the web, buy an Android. It will do everything the iPhone will do, plus it will play newer versions of Flash. BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7 have some catching up to do.
  • If you are a techie and looking to customize your phone, definitely buy an Android. It is based on open-source software, and you have the most flexibility!
  • If you are a frequent email user, buy a BlackBerry. It works quite well with Exchange and even small-screen BlackBerries are designed to work quite well with email.
  • If you want apps, clearly go with iOS (iPhone). With about 400,000 apps and growing, nobody comes close (although Android is catching up).
  • If you want security, go with BlackBerry. It has the most options to lock your phone down, and is less vulnerable to hacks.
  • If you have to have a keyboard, go with Android. While iOS has a nice touchscreen keyboard, it can't compete with options like Swype and SwiftKey.
  • If you must use your phone as a remote control (and Virtual Network Computing), go with iOS. Andriod has similar options, but we prefer iOS for it.
  • If you looking for the best mapping solutions, Android wins hands down. Its turn-by-turn directions interface is a thing of beauty!
  • If you are looking for the best productivity / business apps, go with Windows Phone 7. Its Microsoft Office interface is quite perfect.
So which phone is right for you? You decide...
