Nokia Unveils Lumia 925 in London

Nokia Lumia 925 - from PCWorld

Nokia held an event in London this past Tuesday unveiling the Lumia 925. This new Windows Phone flagship is being referred to as “sexy” and “sleek” with its polycarbonate rear and aluminum frame wrapping.

Lumia 925’s weight and dimensions have improved from its predecessors as well as its enhanced screen, however, many reviews have stated that overall, it’s just an iterative improvement from the Lumia 920. As of right now, it only comes in black, white and grey and if you’re looking for a pop of color, you’ll be able to find that on the wireless-charging covers in white, yellow, red and black (note: sold separately). The biggest advancement of this phone is the Smart Camera, rather than the Smart Shoot. This new camera app lets you capture 10 images at once and then lets you choose from the best, or you can take its suggestion. A user can reassign his or her camera to launch Smart Cam automatically.

When and where can you purchase this phone? The Lumia 925 is expected to be released in stores sometime this June (no exact date, yet). However, you may be surprised to find out that if you’re living in the US, you will only be able to find the 925 at T-Mobile. Although T-Mobile has made a lot of news with its recent decision to get rid of contracts, it is still the smallest nationwide carrier. T-Mobile accounts for 43 million customers while Verizon and AT&T account for 200+ million so it comes as a shock that Nokia did not decide to release through a larger carrier and attempt to make a comeback that way.

We look forward to seeing how the 925’s release affects Nokia and T-Mobile. We hope for it to only be positive! Let us know in the comments if you plan on purchasing a 925 and what you think of its unveiling.
