CES 2012 - Best New Gadgets

Las Vegas is crawling with new technology this week. Here are some of our favorites:

Samsung SmartHome WiFi Washer and Dryer

The WF457. A washer and dryer that's WiFi-enabled, has an 8-inch touchscreen and can be controlled while I'm not at home? Yes, please! It will even send a notification when the laundry is done. It's not available just yet, but what a great idea!

Sony SmartWatch

Xperia is being called a smart accessory for Android phones. At $149 it allows you to receive notifications, answer phone calls, play music, and even go to your favorite social networks. Looking at a Facebook or Twitter newsfeed might require a lot of scrolling, but the other options sound great. The lightweight rubber strap comes in a variety of colors, but Sony says the device can be used with any watch strap.

Lenovo-made Medfield tablet running Ice Cream Sandwich - demo given by Intel

Intel chip tablet

This unnamed, 10-inch tablet is NFC enabled. The battery life is said to get 10 hours of active use and live for 30 days on standby. Not too shabby! Those who had a hands-on test with it at CES say "we couldn't for the life of us see any stutter in that [gaming] app walk-through: both 3D rendering and gestures like pinch to zoom seemed silky smooth from where we were sitting." Looks like there could be a new tablet in the iPad/Kindle Fire race.

Samsung AllShare and AllShare Play with the Galaxy Note

allshare

The Samsung AllShare content system pulls video, music and pictures from your connected computer to the Galaxy Note. The AllShare Play app then pushes the same content to your web-enabled Samsung TV. The Smartphone becomes a controller for volume and playback controls. The idea itself is really intriguing - that being said, I don't know how many people are ready to run out and purchase a new phone and TV just to use this feature...
