According to a recent research report published by Cisco, Smartphone traffic is about to explode (as if it hasn't already)! Here are the top three highlights:
- Between 2011 and 2016, mobile traffic will jump 18-fold (that is not a typo >> eighteen-fold)
- Annual mobile traffic by 2016 will be 130 exabytes. One exabyte = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 (that's 10 raised to the 18th power).
- In 1026, total smartphone (and tablet) devices connected to the Internet will exceed 8 billion (the earth's population is expected to be 7.3 billion in 2016)
